Two crowns were made in England for the 1883 coronation of King Kalākaua and Queen Kapiʻolani. Each crown was crafted of solid gold, lined with velvet, and embellished with diamonds, opals, emeralds, rubies, pearls and Hawaiian kukui nut.
This ornament is an exclusive ʻIolani Palace design.
