"With only one required course remaining, I crammed my college senior year with art classes (including Fiber Art and Weaving). I fulfilled my minor in Art and earned two places in the juried Senior Art Show. (Gustavus Adolphus College)

I moved to Oahu's North Shore in 1994 and took my first lauhala class that same year (Adult Education, Leilehua High School, Kumu Bidel Moniz).

In 2013 I completed the Lauhala Hat Weaving Class from Ulana Me Ka Lokomaikai, became a club member and regularly attended our annual workshops in Waikiki. I prefer weaving on my own, rarely with a hui; strengthening my self-reliance, problem solving skills and unique design creations. My first commissioned lauhala hat order came in 2013 and I specialize in custom hats." - Jill K.
